Giannis Antetokounmpo went down and out after reinjuring his ankle in Game 4 of the Eastern Semifinals against the Miami Heat.
The NBA Playoffs games are providing unrivaled entertainment during this difficult time in the world. No one expected the league to be back this year, but here are the teams, fighting for an NBA championship.
On one side, the Rockets are giving the Lakers a run for their money. The apt title for the series is ‘big-ball versus small-ball’. As of the moment, small-ball is winning. On the other side, the Raptors have just turned the momentum to their favor after staving off a 0-3 hole.
Unfortunately, the same isn’t true for the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite holding the league’s best record this season, they are still stuck in a 1-3 hole. They also might face the Miami Heat without Giannis the rest of the way.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has a big decision to make
While the Milwaukee Bucks is a deep team, no one can replace what the Greek Freak can bring to the table. This is an obvious fact that doesn’t need to be reiterated. No MVP has been named yet, but based on his regular-season performance, he could win back-to-back. Unfortunately, the results of their series with the Miami Heat haven’t shown such promise from the young MVP.
They were down 0-3, and they are lucky enough to snatch one win in Game 4 to avoid an embarrassing sweep. Unfortunately, the deck is stacked against them as no team has ever gotten out of the rut they are in.
As such, Giannis has a big decision to make. That is whether to play on and risk his body to make history, or preserve his health for the future. There is too much on the line if he gets injured. A simple ankle sprain can turn out to be career-altering devastation to a player.
A future without a cornerstone
The Milwaukee Bucks went all-in on Giannis after seeing the potential of the player from Greece. They honed him into one of the league’s most dominating player. Unfortunately, they could lose him as soon as the Bucks are booted from the Playoffs. They’ve achieved unprecedented success at such a short time, but they’ve failed to convert in the past seasons.
As such, Giannis could be frustrated and might want to take his talents elsewhere. Any place that can get him a ring is a could place. In the end, it could be ‘The Decision Pt.2’. As of the moment, no one can say what’s in Antetokounmpo’s head.
