After news broke out that Rockstar Games will release GTA 6 soon, a former employee has weighed in on the rumors.
Is GTA 6 really just around the corner? Grand Theft Auto is easily one of the most iconic and most recognizable games out there. But since Rockstar Games had released GTA V back in 2013, they have yet to give fans a follow-up.
While the studio does provide a few vague updates now and then, nothing concrete has ever really materialized out of it. In fact, the studio has never even confirmed that a sequel is in the works. Fans could only rely on rumors and the belief that Rockstar Games is gearing up for a big surprise.
The GTA 6 rumor mill
Among the Grand Theft Auto community, it’s no longer a question whether GTA 6 is in development or not. Many firmly believe that the sequel to GTA V is finally in the works, even without a formal announcement.
Trusted insiders and leakers are all saying that a sequel will arrive. So the issue is not a question of “if” but rather, “when.” With the world now starting a new year, many hoped that Rockstar Games would finally announce the arrival of GTA 6 alongside the GTA Online announcement. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be.
Rumors are going around online that the sequel will arrive soon. Many even claim that Rockstar Games is already working on a PS5 and Xbox Series X version.
Former Rockstar Games employee speaks out
With all the rumors going around regarding GTA 6, one trusted former Rockstar Games employee has moved to shut down all speculations.
Twitter user Yannn2295, a former Rockstar Games employee of considerable repute, didn’t deny that a sequel is in the works. However, he claims that it won’t be happening anytime soon.
“Yes GTA 6 is being developed. No, it’s not coming soon,” Yann said on Twitter. “No, I don’t know when it’s gonna be announced or released.” He then went on to tell his followers to cease with their inquiries concerning the matter.
Yes GTA 6 is being developped.
No it's not coming soon.
No I don't know when it's gonna be announced or released.
You can stop asking now.— Yan2295 (@Yan2295) January 2, 2021
If what the former R.G. employee said is true, then it’s sure to disappoint fans who have long waited for a sequel.
Why the long wait?
Fans are still unsure what is keeping Rockstar Games so long with developing and releasing the sequel. But many believe that the studio is in developing and expanding the current title, GTA V, as well as its online MMORPG counterpart, GTA Online.
Regardless, data miners are still finding more clues that point to GTA 6 from the current title. This means that a sequel couldn’t really be that far-off.
