A different actress voiced the character of Captain Marvel on “What If…?” instead of Brie Larson.
Projects under the Marvel Cinematic Universe continue to emerge these past few months. The conclusion of the Avengers: Endgame in 2019 has opened a lot of doors for the franchise.
In the last two years, numerous movies and shows have already premiered, and more will come. These include What If…?, which ended its first season run last October.
The Disney+ series seemingly stemmed from the events that transpired in the pilot season of Loki. It saw the return of many MCU stars, who reprised their roles to voice their respective characters.
Brie Larson did not return for What If…?
Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd are among those who returned for the Disney+ series. They reprised their roles as The Hulk, Loki, Thor, and Ant-Man, respectively.
However, there are a few MCU stars who were not in the cast despite the inclusion of their characters in the series. Brie Larson is one of them, leading many fans to wonder whether Marvel is permanently replacing her.
Alexandria Daniels played the part instead and voiced the character of Captain Marvel.
The Sun reported that it remains unclear why Larson did not return for the animated series. Even so, she will reprise her role for the upcoming movie, The Marvels, in 2023.
The series director also previously stated that there would be recasting for the material. Apart from the conclusion of contracts, Bryan Andrews cited “scheduling issues” as another reason.
Alexandria Daniels’ experience with MCU
Alexandria Daniels is a writer and producer, as well as an up-and-coming actor, in the industry. She recently talked about her experience working for Disney and Marvel Studios.
In an engagement on Twitch, Daniels revealed that the audition was looking for a Brie Larson voice double. It eventually became her first voice-acting gig, adding that she did not expect to receive credit.
She also shared some of the events that happened during the recording process. She stated that Disney does not give actors the episodes. Instead, they receive lines, specifically their scenes.
Daniels also, later on, acknowledged how encouraging director Bryan Andrews was during the entire set.
Preparations for the Captain Marvel sequel
Meanwhile, Brie Larson appears to keep up with her preparations for The Marvels. Earlier this month, she shared another video of her fitness regimen, which she has documented on social media. The actress previously stated that she would try to get into prime superhero shape, as well as avoid CGI enhancements.
The upcoming movie will serve as her second solo material under the MCU franchise. It is the sequel to Captain Marvel, arriving in February 2023 on big screens.
