Ivanka Trump ignored the social distancing guidelines earlier this month when she and husband, Jared Kushner went to New Jersey, along with their three kids. It was said that the family “flew” from Washington to celebrate Passover.
The First Daughter and her husband are serving the US President, Donald Trump as Senior Advisers inside the White House. Despite their positions and knowledge about the federal guidelines to help fight the further spread of the novel coronavirus across the country, the couple reportedly chose to travel to another state as per The New York Times.
As added, the family traveled across the state to stay at the Trump Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Upon confirmation, this has seemingly angered a lot of Americans considering that Ivanka Trump is one of the officials who have been encouraging the public to stay at home.
She reportedly shared a lot of photos and statements in the previous weeks on her social media accounts urging the public to follow all the guidelines set in place to fight against the pandemic. She even asked everyone to “please” do their parts “to limit the spread.”
Practicing Social Distancing Guidelines
White House Correspondent for CNN, Kate Bennett shared on social media that a White House official confirmed the whole debacle surrounding Ivanka Trump. It was claimed that the location where the family has been staying is currently “closed down” due to the ongoing crisis.
It was also reportedly contended that while at New Jersey, specifically in Bedminster, Ivanka Trump has been observing social distancing guidelines, and has been “working remotely.” Although the First Daughter’s husband has since moved back to Washington, Ivanka stayed to continue her work.
COVID-19 Cases In New Jersey
According to The Guardian, New Jersey is one of the states in the country that has been seriously affected by the virus. As of the time of writing, over 81,000 cases of infection have been reported with more than 4,000 deaths in the said state.
It is not surprising given that it is beside New York, which has now become the epicenter of COVID-19 in the United States. But, despite the severity of the conditions, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s spokesperson contended that their family trip was no different than their work travels, making the whole trip valid.
Later on, it was cleared out that the family did not fly from Washington to New Jersey. It was said that they “drove” from their DC home all the way to Bedminster.
