Jack Dorsey has made a prediction that will be music to the ears of Bitcoin investors.
The CEO of Twitter and mobile payments company ‘Square’ believes Bitcoin and blockchain technology will accelerate very quickly over the next decade.
He told the ‘Tales from the Crypt’ podcast that having a strong native currency is the logical next step for the internet.
“It wants a currency. It’s always wanted a currency, it just hasn’t had the technology until 10 years ago,” he said.
“It has the right principles behind it and it has a lot of people who are passionate enough to make all of these sacrifices to contribute to it for a greater good beyond themselves.”
But what makes Mr Dorsey really think that Bitcoin adoption and development can grow, is the fact that more and more people will be familiar with the technology from a very young age.
“Imagine being born this year. Growing up knowing only that the potential for a global currency exists. That’s exciting,” he said.
“What that person does with that realisation is amazing.”
“It feels like that just accelerates things even faster. So I think there’s a massive acceleration that’s going to happen within the next 10 years.”
Mr Dorsey has previously revealed he is personally holding Bitcoin, and only Bitcoin.
During a twitter conversation about the Lighting Torch experiment, Twitter user ‘Thomson’ (@ThomsonCrypto) asked; “Jack, which all coins/tokons (sic) you holding?
“I only have bitcoin,” replied Dorsey.
Soon after the exchange above, this question was put to Dorsey by Bloomberg News Reporter Salina Wang (@Selina_y_wang):
“Why? how much,” she asked
“Enough,” Dorsey promptly responded.

In January 2019, Mr Dorsey told The Joe Rogan Experience podcast that Bitcoin will “probably” become the native currency of the internet.
“I believe the internet will have a native currency, it will have a native currency and I don’t know if it’s Bitcoin, I think it will be because just given all the tests it has been through and the principals behind it, how it was created,” he said.
“It’s (Bitcoin) something that was born on the internet, developed on the internet, was tested on the internet, it is of the internet.”
