Jacob Blake, a Black man, was shot multiple times by police officers on Sunday afternoon. BBC confirms that the 29-year-old is now paralyzed and still struggles to fight for his life.
Jacob Blake latest news
Blake was lifted to Milwaukee for medical assistance after police officers have shot him, for the reason that is still not clear to the public. Reports have it, however, that Blake was stopping a supposed fight when the police showed up.
According to the news outlet, Blake’s lawyer, Atty. Ben Crump has confirmed his client’s diagnosis from the doctors. Although he survived the shooting, his mother, Julia Jackson, confirms via a press conference that Jacob Blake is still fighting for his life.
BCC quotes Atty. Crump saying:
“His family believe in miracles, but the medical diagnosis right now is that he is paralysed and, because those bullets severed his spinal cord and shattered some of his vertebrae, it is going to take a miracle for Jacob Blake Jr to ever walk again.”
The result of the gunshots also left Blake with severe damages to other parts of his body and even acquired an arm injury.
For those who saw the viral video of the incident, cops were seen at an arm’s length from Blake, with one of them (who also pulled a few shots) held on to Blake’s clothing as he was stepping into his car, where his sons were.
According to his fiancée Laquisha Booker, the kids, with ages 3, 5, and 8, witnessed everything and screamed as their father got shot.
Day 3 of the unrest
Immediately after the video circulated online, people went to the streets to demand justice for Jacob Blake. Yesterday, fires engulfed the streets and buildings of Kenosha. Today, BBC confirms from the Kenosha Police that two have died from gunfire and one falling severely injured “but non-life threatening.”
The identities of the victims have not been revealed, as it still an open investigation. Nevertheless, civilians have been seen in recorded videos armed with weapons amid the crowded protests.

Blake’s mother further expressed during the press conference that if his son “knew what was going on as far as that goes, the violence and the destruction, he would be very unpleased.”
CNN further quotes Jackson that what is currently happening to the city due to the unrest following his son’s inside doesn’t reflect her son nor their family.
