Jada Pinkett-Smith appeared in her own show and confirmed she had an affair with August Alsina. Her husband Will Smith served as her interviewer.
In her own talk show called Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett-Smith sat down to answer and clarify August’s accusations. The 27-year-old American rapper previously revealed he had a relationship with the actress/singer while she’s married to Will Smith.
Jada Pinkett-Smith revealed how her “entanglement” with August started
The singer/actress finally addressed the claims that she had an affair on the July 10 episode of her show. Prior to the airing of her interview, Jada informed her followers about her appearance via social media.
“I brought myself to the table last week but decided to hold the episode out of respect for the far more important situations that have been happening around us,” she tweeted.
Jada Pinkett-Smith revealed that about four and a half years ago, she and August became very close friends. She explained that at that time, she really wanted to help him because he was “really sick.”
“It all started with him just needing some help and me wanting to help his health and his mental state,” she told her husband. “The outpouring for him from our family was initially about his health.”
Will and Jada confirmed brief break-up of their marriage
She went on to say that her friendship with August happened when she and her husband were having marital issues.
Jada and Will then admitted that they were actually “over” at that time, admitting that they separated for a while.
“We found all those different resources to help pull him (August) through and from there you and I were going through a very difficult time,” she said. “At the time, it was indefinite that we were broken up. We were over.”
The couple said they did not have any idea if they will ever get back together again, but they did. They decided to fix their marriage and stated their marriage is going strong at 22 years and counting today.

Jada Pinkett-Smith also mentioned the rumors that Will granted her and August the permission to date.
She denied this and explained that probably, August was only trying to say that he is not a homewrecker and he really isn’t.
“The only person who can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself,” she told Will. “But what August was probably trying to communicate – as I could actually see how he would perceive it as permission since we were separated, amicably.”
Finally, Jada Pinkett-Smith said that when she and Will decided to give their marriage a second chance, August totally cut-off communication with her.
