Jamie Spears submitted a petition to the court asking it to put an end to Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatorship.
Britney Spears may finally be free soon as her father, Jamie Spears, recently filed a petition to wholly end her conservatorship.
Fox News confirmed that Jamie already submitted the official documents to ask the court for its approval on the petition.
Meanwhile, the documents — obtained by CNN — mentioned the pop star’s pleas during two court hearings about her desire to terminate the conservatorship.
“Recent events related to this conservatorship have called into question whether circumstances have changed to such an extent that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist,” it stated.
Jamie also took his time to mention almost everything Britney wants to do outside the conservatorship, including getting married, having a baby, and having complete control over her money.
It mentioned how the patriarch repeatedly expressed his desire to give all the best things to his daughter. As Britney thinks she can handle her life already, ending the conservatorship would give her the chance to do what she wants.
Following the release of the document, the singer’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, called it “vindication.”
He told CNN, “It appears that Mr. Spears believes he can try to avoid accountability and justice, including sitting for a sworn deposition and answering other discovery under oath.”
Still, the team will continue to see all options until the conservatorship officially ends.
Recent development on Britney Spears’ conservatorship.
Jamie’s filings came after Rosengart asked him to step down as conservator before he is suspended.
According to the legal representative, resigning now would be the most decent thing he could do after all the legal battles they went through. Although Jamie said he would leave his post, he did not give an exact date of his departure from the program.
“We are pleased that Mr Spears and his lawyer have today conceded in a filing that he must be removed. It is vindication for Britney. We are disappointed, however, by their ongoing shameful and reprehensible attacks on Ms Spears and others,” Rosengart went on.
This became victorious on Britney’s part after she initially failed to remove Jamie as a conservator of her estate in August 2020.
In November, Los Angeles superior court judge Brenda Penny disapproved of Britney’s request to remove the central role from his father. But she revealed it could still be changed in the future.
