Jamie Spears controlled Britney Spears’ life throughout the 13 years of conservatorship, and a new bombshell documentary revealed more details about it.
While Britney is yet to taste the freedom she wants, Jamie Spears continues to handle her conservatorship. The program has been active for 13 years, and the pop star has already launched petitions to either remove Jamie or stop the conservatorship for good.
Among the reasons why the singer wants to end it is her alleged lack of privacy because of her father. The level of toxicity as the conservatorship continues to exist has been discussed in a new flick.
Why Jamie monitored Britney’s phone
On Friday, The New York Times: Presents Controlling Britney Spears premiered on FX and Hulu.
A former member of Britney’s security team revealed that he was once asked to put parental controls on the singer’s devices. Alex Vlasov, who worked at Black Box Security from 2012 to 2021, said that Britney’s desire to get an iPhone was a big deal.
“[My boss] Edan [Yemini] approached me and asked me, ‘Is there any monitoring services for an iPhone that you are aware of?’ And I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’ And he’s like, ‘Well, parental controls. Is there any way you can put parental controls on an iPhone?'” he recalled, as quoted by Fox News.
His boss then disclosed that they needed to do the job since Jamie wanted to monitor her communication for her security and protection.
Yemini’s request, reportedly, disturbed that he immediately asked him whether it was legal to monitor the singer’s phone. The boss, in return, said that the court and Britney’s lawyer were all aware of the setup and knew it was for her safety and protection.
How they managed to track Britney’s activities
Britney’s management team at Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group member Robin Greenhill, reportedly, suggested owning an iPad and signing in with the same iCloud account that she would use on her phone.
That way, per Vlasov, they could view the messages, browser history, and her photographs. Jamie and Greenhill had the chance to peruse everything on her phone.
The former member of the singer’s security team added that the iPad was kept in a safe.
“Their reason for monitoring was looking for bad influence, looking for potential illegal activity that might happen, but they would also monitor conversations with her friends, with her mom, with her lawyer Sam Ingham. If there’s anybody that should be off limits, it should be Britney’s lawyer,” Ylasov went on.
