Perez Hilton recently opened up about some of the biggest controversies he was involved in throughout the past decade.
In an article for The Sunday Times, Perez Hilton revealed that he was sued multiple times. In 2007, Jennifer Aniston filed a lawsuit against Hilton after he posting a leaked photo of the actress.
Perez Hilton published a stolen photo of Jennifer Aniston online
Back then, CBS News revealed that a Hollywood movie studio filed a lawsuit against Hilton after he posted a stolen photo of the actress on the Internet.
In their filing, they said that the photo was misappropriated and illegally copied during the production or post-production of Aniston’s movie, The Break-Up with Vince Vaughn.
The controversial photo wasn’t featured in the final version of the film. The Break-Up, reportedly, earned $118 million at the box office.
Lawyer speaks up
Lawyer Bryan Freedman released a statement shortly after saying that his client didn’t do anything illegal.
“What we’re saying is essentially Perez used one picture of Jennifer Aniston that was already previously published on numerous web sites. And he used it for the purpose of news commentary and satire as he often does with photographs. That constitutes fair use and there’s nothing illegal or improper with that use,” Freedman said.
Jennifer Aniston confronted Perez Hilton in a garage
Years later, Aniston revealed that she bumped into Perez Hilton in a garage. The Friends star detailed their encounter during her appearance in the Ellen Show.
“I ran into Perez Hilton in a garage. One of those moments you just never expect to happen. I had finished dinner with a girlfriend and we were driving out and I saw this tall, long, lean person and I say, ‘Who is that?’ And she says, ‘I think that’s Perez Hilton.’ I said, ‘No. I have to say something to him. And I have to.’ So, I pulled up and we were sort of scoping each other out as I was pulling the car up. I just rolled down the window and I was like, ‘Hi.’ And he went, ‘Hi.’ We stood there like two deer in headlights. And I just said, ‘Come here. Just talk to me for a second.’ It was one of those great moments. It was a lovely meeting and I was just like, ‘Why are you so mean?’ Aniston said.
When Perez Hilton appeared on Ellen Show, he promised not to bully celebrities and non-celebrities. And Aniston gave him credit for keeping his promise years ago.
