Jennifer Lawrence and two-time Oscar winner, Cate Blanchett confirmed to star in the new Netflix comedy movie, Don’t Look Up.
Don’t Look Up is currently being developed by one of Hollywood’s high profile director Adam Mckay. Mckay wrote the script and will also produce the movie with the help of Kevin Messick. The movie will also be produced under Mckay’s Hyperobject Industries.
Back in February, the first announcement of Don’t Look Up reached the viewers with Jennifer Lawrence as the main cast. Moreover, Don’t Look Up is the first movie that Mckay will be producing for the giant online streaming service. Also, Mckay also debuts this movie as the first one to stream on Netflix.
Both Lawrence and Blanchett received Oscar awards for their movie performances. Hence, both celebrities will certainly entertain fans with their talents. Fans will certainly look forward to the movie’s release.
What is Don’t Look Up all about
Don’t Look Up is a satire, comedy movie which follows the story of two low-level astronomers. After knowing that an asteroid is coming to destroy the earth, the two astronomers embarked on a serious media tour. The astronomers plan to warn the whole earth of the incoming destruction.

Mckay shared his excitement about creating the movie with Jennifer Lawrence. He said,
“I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence. She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call “a dynamite act”. And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”
The Head of Netflix Films, Scott Stuber, also revealed his eagerness to work with Mckay. According to him, Mckay always creates relevant movies that will depict the true culture. Furthermore, he added that Mckay always finds ways to make his movies significant even in the midst of the earth’s destruction.
Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence movie projects
Even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Cate Blanchett’s movie projects are piling up. Aside from Don’t Look Up, Blanchett is working with James Gray for her upcoming movie, “Armageddon Times”.
Moreover, Blanchett is also adding Borderlands movie adaptation from a popular video game. Although there are no release dates yet on these movies, Blanchett’s year is already filled up.

On the other hand, Jennifer Lawrence marks Don’t Look Up as her official comeback to the industry. Although Lawrence is known for her action and drama roles, Don’t Look Up will be her first comedy comeback after The Bill Engvall Show.
After years of being away from the movie scenes, Don’t Look Up is her iconic return to the industry.
When is the release of Don’t Look Up
Initially, Netflix planned to start production in April. However, with the ongoing crisis of the pandemic, it might take sometime before the movie reaches the big screen. Netflix is yet to comment on the release date.
