Jennifer Lopez will, allegedly, replace Kim Cattrall in the upcoming Sex and the City reboot.
According to New Idea, the directors and producers of the show responded to claims that their casting lacks diversity by replacing Kim Cattrall with Lopez.
“You can’t do a New York-based show anymore with just a bunch of white women and another actress won’t replace Kim. Lots of names are being mentioned, and Jennifer Lopez’s is at the top of the list,” the source said.
Kim Cattrall vows to never return to ‘Sex and the City’
There have been tons of controversies surrounding Cattrall and her co-stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis.
Cattrall has been adamant at saying that she won’t ever return to the Sex and the City franchise because she’s not friends with her co-stars.
In 2017, the actress publicly criticized Parker for, allegedly, exploiting her deceased brother’s memory after the latter posted her condolences via her social media account.
And amid reports that there will be a Sex and the City 3, Cattrall continued to say that she will never be part of the project.
Now that the reboot has been confirmed, Sex and the City fans are aware that Cattrall won’t return to the franchise.
Sarah Jessica Parker denies claims she dislikes Kim Cattrall
But when one fan claimed that Cattrall has been removed from the cast because Parker dislikes her, the latter was quick to deny the allegations.
“No, I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. Samantha isn’t a part of this story. But she will always be a part of us. No matter where we are or what we do,” Parker responded.
The Sex and the City reboot will follow the lives of Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they navigate through life and love.
According to the tabloid, the cast members will be receiving $1 million per episode.
Will Jennifer Lopez star in ‘Sex and the City’?
As for Jennifer Lopez and her involvement in the reboot, nothing has been confirmed as of late.
It is possible that the tabloid is just speculating on the possibility of Lopez joining the cast. After all, she’s a Latina who also happens to be in her 50s.
Lopez is expected to have a very busy year ahead. Her new movie, Marry Me is slated for release in May.
Jennifer Lopez is also expected to return to the fifth season of World of Dance on Aug. 11.
