After Linsanity and several setbacks, Jeremy Lin is intent on making an NBA return after playing in the Chinese Basketball Association.
In the NBA, there are perennial superstars like Lebron James and Steph Curry. However, there are also sporadic stars that just pop out of nowhere. This type of superstar normally has strong stretches of games that either convert him into a contract player or land him short term endorsements.
The list includes familiar names such as Yogi Ferrell and Andre Ingram. Both players were considered superstars for a very short period in the league, but right now, they are nowhere to be found.
Topping this list, among those in recent memory, is Jeremy Lin.
Jeremy Lin and his NBA return
Lin had one of the leagues most memorable stretches in NBA history. From out of nowhere, Jeremy Lin had such a strong showing for the New York Knicks, which was desperate at that time for a facilitator.
Jeremy Lin stepped up to carry the team to a solid seven-game win streak. In that stretch, Lin averaged more than 25 points and six assists per game. Unfortunately, his cinderella run didn’t last long. Other teams prepared for his style of play, which put him into oblivion.
He did sign a contract with the Houston Rockets after his run with the Knicks. However, his impact on the league wasn’t as memorable. He even had to endure injuries in back to back seasons. Despite all these difficulties, Lin is keeping his head up. He even wants to return to the NBA.
Lin had to endure a tough stretch in his life
Ascending that fast into fame isn’t an easy task. As such, when Linsanity ended, Jeremy Lin had to adjust back to his normal life. Unfortunately, it wasn’t easy for him. He said,
“That stretch was called Linsanity and at that time I was literally the most popular person, the most popular person, on the planet.”
Kobe Bryant even had to ask who this guy was because he just attracted too much attention. However, all good things come to an end, Lin added,
“But the next few years after that I started to really experience a lot of let downs, a lot of failure and it got to the point where I was so ashamed to even walk outside, I didn’t even want to leave my house, I didn’t want to go on my social media, I didn’t want to go on ESPN.”
There are several teams that need the skills of Jeremy Lin in the NBA. He has proven to be a quality ball facilitator. He can even crash the boards among big men. In his latest playing season with the Beijing Ducks, Jeremy Lin averaged 22.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists.
