Two of horror movie’s most iconic figures are making their way into Call of Duty: Mobile in anticipation of the upcoming Halloween and shortly beyond as both Jigsaw and Leatherface enter Verdansk.
Beginning Oct. 20 until Nov. 3, 2020, Call of Duty: Mobile players could expect to see the “horrific characters” roaming Verdansk. The rollout will see a fulfillment of the temporary campaign, that is, the Haunting of Verdansk.
Fans of the horror genre would already know who the two terrifying figures are. But to those who do not, these two are only the cause of the main fright within the Jigsaw and Texas Chainsaw Massacre films.
Spiritual presence
Technically, neither of the two will be literally joining the fray at Verdansk. However, with players donning skins that fit either profile, both are essential in the game. Aside from the ability to mimic the imagery of either Jigsaw or Leatherface, each franchise also comes with bundles more of the offering. Specifically, charms and blueprints.
Both costumes are particularly scary in their own right. But Jigsaw’s Billy the Puppet might easily be the community’s favorite for its more exquisitely scary looks.
Although scaring one another might be the highlight of the event, there’s more excitement to it all.
One major interesting aspect of what is essentially an early to late Halloween event is the Trick or Treat system. Which, as described in Call of Duty’s blog, “contain frights or frighteningly good blueprints and personalization items.”
Scarier during dark
Yet, while horror is basically scary at any time of the day, certain modes in the game will see special highlight at night time, essentially taking the literal fright of the event to its optimum level.
If seeing either or both Jigsaw or Leatherface on the map is not a scare enough, the game will also introduce the undead via the Zombie Royale mode. This time also gives participating players the chance to experience what it feels like becoming one of the living dead. Not by choice, but rather as a consequence of dying in the field.
Here comes the Zombies
But more than just leaving the player in a “walking-but-brain-dead” state, zombies in this fresh twist to Battle Royale are potent physically. This means that, contrary to the popular depiction of zombies, players are quicker and stronger in their unliving form—a pretty good exchange for not being able to use weapons, to say the least.
Players who cannot stand the idea of playing on a “decaying body,” however, still has a chance to redeem themselves. That is, to eventually come back to life. But this might entail the player killing players to gather two syringes, which is key to their revival.
The Haunting of Verdansk will also launch for Xbox One, PS4, and PC starting tomorrow.
