Former Vice-President Joe Biden has accused President Donald Trump of “betraying the American people” as the contents of Bob Woodward’s book, RAGE, reveal the POTUS’ prior knowledge of COVID-19’s severity.
Joe Biden has since criticized how President Trump has “failed to protect America,” per his DNC speech last month. On Wednesday, Reuters report that Biden accused Trump of betraying the public by lying about the severity of the coronavirus.
President Trump has since been slammed for allegedly taking the pandemic loosely. His famous line “it is what it is“—an answer he told when asked about the rising COVID-19 death toll—has since been used against him, most especially by his rivals.
Joe Biden on Trump: “he failed to do his job – on purpose”
During Biden’s visit to Michigan, where he was promoting a proposal to tax companies, he inserted the current issues looming Trump, following the release of the interviews he had with the journalist Bob Woodward.
Based on the interviews, Trump knew about the “deadliness” of the virus even before the United States recorded its first COVID-19 death. He knew it was airborne, yet continued to conduct gatherings with less regard for mask-wearing nor for social distancing.

This was wildly noted during the last night of the Republican National Convention, which drew so many criticisms from the public. He even made fun of Joe Biden for wearing a mask during his Kenosha visit.
According to Biden, “[h]e knew, and purposefully played it down. Worse, he lied to the American people.”
“He knowingly and willingly lied about the threat it posed to the country for months. He had the information. He knew how dangerous it was,” ALJAZEERA quotes biden. “And while this deadly disease ripped through our nation, he failed to do his job – on purpose. It was a life-and-death betrayal of the American people. It’s a dereliction of duty, a disgrace.”
Biden accuse Trump on other things as well
Furthermore, Biden continued to attack Trump for “failing to fulfill his campaign vow” during the 2016 race. This promise, per Reuters, was to “protect American jobs and prevent plants from closing.”
Biden laid out his tax plans to a dozen United Auto Workers officials in Macomb County. He seeks to impose a ” 30.8% rate on profits 30.8% rate on profits from products made overseas.”
Biden further expressed:
“It just drives me crazy that the country is going to hell in a handbasket economically and politically and in terms of our health, and we’re doing nothing about it.”
Meanwhile, the House of Representative Speaker Nancy Pelosi has called this new Trump revelation a “historic national tragedy.” She cites the number of lives lost and those affected, not to mention the whopping unemployment rate, which “could have been avoided.”
