Joe Gatto officially announced his exit from Impractical Jokers ahead of the show’s 10th anniversary.
Impractical Jokers will continue as a trio as Joe Gatto recently confirmed his departure from the show due to personal issues.
Gatto revealed in an Instagram post his future plans, saying he would no longer join the show in the 10th season amid his divorce from his wife of eight years.
“Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids,” he said.
Although his marital relationship with his estranged wife, he reportedly treats his connection with his co-stars as the most important in his life. He has been working with James S. Murray, Brian Quinn, and Sal Vulcano on the show for years now.
The quartet first met in high school, where they initially made the comedy group The Tenderloins. They eventually made it their profession and helmed the hidden camera TV show starting in 2011.
Gatto, however, assured them that the remaining members would surely make the world laugh. He also took his time to recognize the crew members who work behind the scenes with them.
Joe Gatto says goodbye to fans
In his goodbye post, the comedian thanked his fans who have been with him since the show began. He then left his greatest hope for them, saying he wishes he was able to make them laugh enough.
“Seeing you laugh has been my own medicine, particularly in these weird and difficult times we find ourselves. As I work through the challenges I am facing, I hope to and am excited to create new ways to entertain you,” he went on.
As of press time, Impractical Jokers has already released over 200 episodes. The members compete against each other and make outrageous dares to embarrass one another.
Due to the show’s popularity, the creators made a movie and special Impractical Jokers Dinner Party which tells how the pandemic prevented filming in public.
Following the announcement of his exit, his fans took to Twitter to express their heartbreaks and send Gatto heartfelt messages before his departure.
One said, “Betty White dying followed mere hours later by Joe Gatto leaving the Impractical Jokers is going to be my villain origin story.”
“joe gatto leaving the impractical jokers is the equivalent of zayn leaving one direction,” another added.
