John Cena was allegedly a “groomzilla” when he was planning his $5 million wedding to Shay Shariatzadeh.
John Cena is finally married, but there are rumors that he was a demanding and perfectionist groom while planning for his special day with Shay Shariatzadeh. Gossip Cop examined the report and check out what it found out.
John Cena demanding and perfectionist rumor
In Touch published a report claiming that John Cena was very hands-on with his wedding. In fact, he allegedly arranged for his bride to wear a “couture gown” and even handled the flowers and hired a Michelin-starred chef for the catering.
“Everything in the wedding was extravagant,” an insider claimed.
The outlet claimed that his ex-fiancee Nikki Bella was fuming because he was so cheap with her. In fact, he allegedly had her on a budget.
Since Cena was allegedly paying $5 million for their wedding, he was “pulling out all the stops” to give his bride her dream wedding.
An insider claimed they were hoping to exchange “I do’s” on a tropical island. Also, they allegedly wanted to fly out all of their friends by a private jet.
Rumor debunked
Gossip Cop called the report silly because John Cena and Shay Shariatzadeh’s wedding was not as extravagant as what the tabloid reported. In fact, the couple opted to marry in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida.
According to People, Cena opted to marry Shariatzadeh “out of the limelight” and even described the WWE star as romantic. Gossip Cop noted that with the said descriptions, it’s very unlikely that Cena was a “groomzilla.”
The outlet also refuted the claim that Nikki Bella cares about her ex-fiance’s wedding. Bella just welcomed a son with her fiance Artem Chigvintsev. The former professional wrestler is busy with her own life to mind Cena’s wedding. Gossip Cop concluded that the report was “completely fabricated.”
John and Shay’s romance and wedding details
John Cena met his wife in Canada while filming his 2019 comedy Playing with Fire. He reportedly fell in love with her at first sight. Shay Shariatzadeh is an engineer.
She was born in Iran and raised in Canada. She currently works for the enterprise software company Sonatype. An insider described Cena’s wife as someone who is “smart” and has her own life and career. Her attributes attracted Cena. He was reportedly “dazzled” by her.
But he wanted to make the event more intimate so he wanted a small celebration.
“He is a romantic,” a source told People. They “knew they would marry, so the [private ceremony] wasn’t a surprise. He just wanted to do it out of the limelight.”
