Johnny Depp is not crushing on his former co-star Angelina Jolie despite what one tabloid claims.
Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie have worked together on the 2011 movie The Tourist. It has been a decade since they did a project together, but tabloids are still linking them after their respective divorces. Continue reading to know the truth.
Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie rumor
Johnny Depp was allegedly looking for a new love, according to Globe. The tabloid added that the Pirates of the Caribbean star has set his eyes on the Maleficent star.
It quoted an unnamed source claiming that he has been wooing Brad Pitt’s ex-wife via emails and has sent her flowers.
The source added that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s reconciliation gave Depp hope to give things a try with Jolie. The Minamata actor allegedly said that one of his biggest regrets was settling for a poor man’s version of Jolie when he was going out with his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
“He’s by no means given up on love. He’s just incredibly picky and guarded these days, and that’s one big thing he shares with Angie,” the source said.
Gossip Cop looked into the report and debunked it for several reasons.
First, the tabloid did not provide enough evidence to prove that there is a substantial connection between Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. It fails to link the two actors other than the movie they did together 11 years ago.
Second, Depp and Jolie have never been linked in the press for years. And even if they were, it was never romance, the rumor-debunking site noted.
Both actors are single and just went through highly publicized divorces. Gossip Cop believed that Depp and Jolie are free to move on with whomever they want, but it’s unlikely that they are considering each other as their next love interest.
Depp and Jolie in legal battle with exes
Both Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp are in a legal battle with their former spouses.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt split in 2016. However, they are still finalizing their divorce and custody battle. Last month, Judge John Ouderkirk made a tentative decision granting Brad Pitt joint custody over their five kids.
Meanwhile, last year, Johnny Depp sued The Sun for libel after calling him a wife-beater following Amber Heard’s allegations that he was abusive and violent. Depp lost the libel case and was lost his bid to overturn the ruling on the same case.
Depp is still after his ex-wife and he sued her for defamation after an op-ed in The Washington Post in 2018 around the height of #MeToo. In the article, Heard claimed to be a survivor of abuse but did not drop her ex-husband’s name. However, the U.S. judge agreed that he has ground to sue her and that the piece was clearly about him, Vanity Fair reported.
Depp’s team also provided new evidence that the Aquaman star lied allegedly lied about donating the S7 million divorce settlement she received from him.
