Johnny Depp decided to end his marriage with Amber Heard the day he discovered a poo on their shared bed.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard dated for a couple of years before tying the knot in 2015. However, after they exchanged “I dos,” their marriage only lasted for a year. Their divorce was finalized in 2017, but their legal battle continues.
Johnny Depp divorced Amber Heard for this reason
Johnny Depp sued The Sun after the tabloid called him “wife-beater.” During the trial of his libel case against the publication, Depp recalled the incident that prompted him to split with Amber Heard.
“Depp who in the end was forced to finally call time on this relationship, largely after behaviour by her and her friends following her birthday party in their flat in April 2016,” Depp’s legal team told the court, Mirror reported.
In Depp’s witness statement, Depp mentioned Heard leaving poo on their bed. The Justice League actress told the building manager that the incident was a “harmless prank.” But apparently, it wasn’t the case for her ex-husband.
“I understand that the following morning [after the party] Ms Heard (or possibly one of her friends) defecated in our shared bed,” Depp said.
“On 12 May 2016, Ms Heard confessed to our estate manager, Kevin Murphy, that leaving the faeces in the bed had been “just a harmless prank’ thereby effectively acknowledging that she had been responsible, whereas she had previously sought to blame our dogs.”
Depp didn’t believe that the dogs were to blame because they were too tiny to jump onto the bed. And he wasn’t convinced that they could “leave faeces like that which was deposited on the bed.”
“I resolved to divorce Ms Heard on that day,” Depp said.
Heard accused Depp of being abusive and violent
Johnny Depp’s case against The Sun started when Amber Heard’s allegation that he was abusive and violent. In the court documents, Heard claimed that Depp was using alcohol and drugs when he hurt her.
Deadline obtained a copy of Amber Heard’s unsent email for Depp in 2013. In the lengthy letter, she wrote that she really loved Depp, but she was scared of his other half.
“You have hit me repeated. Something you should Never have done. What a [explicit] man you are. And NONE of this would be possible without the booze and drugs. NONE,” Heard wrote.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star denied Heard’s claim. Depp called it a “hoax” and said she was doing it for an “insurance policy later.”
Depp’s exes Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis showed their support to him. According to the two, Depp was never violent when they were with him.
