Ever since Johnny Depp joined the world of Instagram, he has been constantly giving a glimpse of his quarantine life. For his latest post, Amber Heard’s ex-husband gives an overview of his garden and his over a decade-old art project. He also revealed the story behind the artwork.
Johnny Depp lets fans take a peek of his Los Angeles mansion through his every post. Recently, he once again showed his creative side when he posted a photo of his artwork.
An artwork 14 years in the making
The 56-year-old actor shared a painting of a bottle of wine that he has had been working on for more than 14 years. As expected, a lot of people left comments on his post, like Patti Smith and Ryan Adams.
The post also comes with a lengthy caption, detailing his passion for the art and the story behind the artwork.
“It’s odd, the things that we once gave such pure, intense focus and devotion to for months on end,” he said. “Then suddenly, the wind shifts, and off we go on a new tack.”
Johnny Depp put aside his passion for painting due to his busy schedule. However, maybe due to the recent lockdown, he found time to do this painting again.
“I found this painting, which I had started in 2006,” he continued. “For 14 years, I’d never touched the painting – the occasional glance, at best.”
Despite not continuing the artwork, he admitted that it always lingered in his mind, calling it a piece of unfinished business. Although he felt forced to live in the immediate, the passion he had invested in the project awaited for his return.
“I will keep you apprised of the progress! All Love, JD,” he ended his lengthy note.

In 2016, he auctioned his multi-million-dollar collection, including nine artworks by the great American artist Jean Michel Basquiat. He had this collection for more than 25 years.
He also makes his own artwork. Aside from the bottle of wine, he loves to paint elephants. He even gifted Ellen DeGeneres an elephant painting on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2017.
