Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s legal battle continues, and the former claimed that they “occasionally” took drugs together.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard married in 2015, but they separated in a year later. Their divorce was finalized in 2017. However, they are still embroiled in a legal battle.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s legal battle
Johnny Depp sued The Sun for calling him “wife beater” due to Amber Heard’s allegations that he is violent and abusive.
Just recently, The Sun’s lawyer asked that Depp’s libel case be dismissed because he allegedly withheld the evidence of him taking drugs at the time.
Adam Wolanski, who represented NGN, The Sun’s publisher, claimed that Depp’s drug use was relevant. According to him, “it is the defendants’ case that drugs and alcohol had an influence on the claimant’s behavior towards Ms. Heard.”
Depp spoke about drug session with Heard
According to The Sunday Times, as the High Court heard calls for Johnny Depp’s libel claim against The Sun, he also spoke about his drug session with his ex, Amber Heard.
Depp claimed that he occasionally took MDMA, magic mushrooms, and cocaine with his then-wife. He said they “took drugs together,” but “these were not common occurrences.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean star also addressed the allegations that he deliberately withheld his history of drug use. Depp denied the allegation.
“I have been open about my challenges with alcoholism and addiction [all] my life,” Depp said.
What Heard say about Depp’s alcohol and drug abuse
Amber Heard claimed that she feared for her life when she was still with Johnny Depp. Back in 2016, she spoke about his history of alcohol and drug abuse in court papers she filed in Los Angeles County Court.
“I am extremely afraid of Johnny and for my safety,” Heard said.
She added that due to alcohol and drugs, Depp had a short temper. Heard also alleged that he was violent and abusive.
“His relationship with reality oscillates,” the Aquaman star continued.
“Depending on his interaction with alcohol and drugs. Johnny has a long-held and widely-acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol abuse. He has a short fuse. He is often paranoid and his temper is exceptionally scary.”
However, in Depp’s defense, the Fantastic Beast actor said that his drugs or alcohol use never made him “undertake violence against anyone.”
