The official website of the new movie, Josee the Tiger and the Fish, dropped an extended two-minute trailer, showing more of the protagonists Josee and Tsuneo.
Josee the Tiger and the Fish is a new anime movie that will hit you right in the feels. It features a young girl named Josee, whose life has revolved around her wheelchair, and the college student Tsuneo. As their lives started to intertwine, will they end up together?
An emotional promotional video
The promotional video gave a glimpse of Josee and Tsuneo’s memorable first encounter on a slope, per Epic Dope.
Josee’s grandmother is taking her out for a morning walk when her wheelchair suddenly runs down the slope. Unable to control herself, she falls into the hands of Tsuneo.
From here, a new relationship between the two is about to begin. Josee and Tsuneo will find comfort in each other’s company, but it remains to be seen how long it will be.
Can they withstand the trials their relationship will have?
With the emotional theme, Josee the Tiger and the Fish has Eve’s songs “Ao no Waltz” and “Shinkai,” perfectly fit the movie.
Its visuals, showing Josee and Tsuneo wearing their winter clothes, also show the winter season in Japan.

Josee, the Tiger and the Fish was screened at the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), which took place at the EX Theater Roppongi and other Tokyo theaters. The event was held from Oct. 31 to Nov. 9.
Initially, the movie is based on a Japanese short story of the same name, written by Seiko Tanabe. It later inspired a live-action film, led by Satoshi Tsumabuki and Chizuru Ikewaki, released in 2003.
It also has a manga adaptation, debuted in Kadokawa’s Da Vinci magazine in January and ended in October. Emoto, who works for the animated movie, also drew the manga.
Josee the Tiger and the Fish will hit the Japan theaters on Dec. 25. It was initially set to be out during the summer, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed its release.
