Fans will soon see Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 153, as Gege Akutami will now be back to work.
Weekly Shonen Jump officially announced the manga series’ return. Thankfully, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 153 will drop sooner than expected.
The Manga’s Return
Jump confirmed Yuji Itadori’s story will now continue. It will return later this summer, taking readers back to the supernatural world of Jujutsu Tech.
“Great news! Jujutsu Kaisen will resume serialization in Shonen Jump on Sunday, August 1st!” it reads.
Akutami and the magazine announced last month that the manga would be on hiatus due to the mangaka’s health concerns.
Kotaku noted that although the manga creator wanted to continue working, it was decided he needed a break to recuperate.
In a different statement, Akutami himself said the break might last a month or longer.
True enough, the latest chapter, Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 152 dropped on June 13, while Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 153 would come August.
Akutami added Weekly Shonen Jump’s editorial department had asked him to take a break before, but he refused because it would affect the manga’s story.
As much as possible, he wanted it to finish as early as it could. So, his vacation days and rest days continued to pile up.
“Even if I say I’m feeling unwell, this isn’t a serious illness,” Akutami said. “Mentally things are functioning as normal, so don’t worry.”

Chapter 153’s Release
So, what will happen in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 153? Twitter user Ducky shares the official synopsis of the new installment and teases what will happen next.
“The long-awaited ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ will resume its serialization!!” it reads. “In Preparation for the Culling Game, Yuji Itadori is Heading Towards Hakari, but..…!!”
By the looks of it, the much-talked-about Culling Game will finally begin.
The Zenin Clan arc had officially ended in Chapter 152. Here, Maki faced her mother, who was begging for her life, IBTimes noted.
Naoya, alternatively, ended up crawling on the floor and spitting blood after being in a big fight with Maki.
He was continuously mocking Maki for not killing him. However, her mother appeared before him, bleeding and holding a knife.
Her sudden appearance surprised Naoya, so he tried his best to gather some cursed energy. As he failed, Maki’s mother killed him.
After killing all the Zenin clan, Maki left and told Nishimiya to take care of her dead sister, Mai.
Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 153 will be part of Weekly Shonen Jump Issue No. 35 that will be released Aug. 2.
