‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ expected to follow ‘Demon Slayer’s footsteps after October premiere

Jujutsu Kaisen is slated to premiere in October 2020. Fans are wondering whether it will follow Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba’s success.

Despite the threat of a global pandemic, the year 2020 continues to witness the release of several famous anime titles. This includes Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, Detective Conan: Scarlet Bullet, and The Witcher. However, the roster is not yet complete as Jujutsu Kaisen’s premiere still remains unseen.

Fortunately, it appears that fans need not wait longer because the series has just announced its release schedule. Furthermore, the upcoming installment’s details have been unveiled.

Jujutsu Kaisen series overview

Jujutsu Kaisen anime series is based on Gege Akutami’s manga of the same name. MAPPA will produce the anime adaptation. Meanwhile, Seong Ho Park, who performed directorial duties for The God of High School, is set to helm the series.

The story follows 15-year old Yuji Itadori who looks like an average student despite beholding an immense physical strength. With this at hand, every sports club wants to take him in. But Itadori preferred to hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club.

Itadori’s life completely changed after he found himself in the middle of the paranormal battle. In an attempt to rescue his friends, he chose to swallow a cursed finger to make himself stronger. Consequently, the curse known as Ryoumen Sukuna binds with Itadori. Because of this, he became an asset and a target for the Jujutsu Sorcerers.

Jujutsu Kaisen: release date, trailer, and official poster

Toho Animation’s official YouTube account recently unveiled the official teaser trailer of Jujutsu Kaisen. Animated excerpts from what looks to be the series’ opening episodes have also been spilled. Alongside these releases, comes the announcement that the new anime adaptation will drop in October 2020.

Furthermore, fans are more hyped after taking sight of Jujutsu Kaisen’s key visual. It showed off two of the manga’s leads, Yuji Itadori and Sukuna,  as they stand before the gates of hell itself. Demonic relics that solidified a dark alliance decorated the horrifying shrine.

Jujutsu Kaisen will either share the same fate of Attack on Titan or Demon Slayer

Currently, Jujutsu Kaisen manga only comprises over 100 chapters. With this at hand, it may face production delays in the future. Some critics are worried that it will suffer the same fate as Attack on Titan, which experienced a multiple-year break in-between seasons.

Nevertheless, most of the devotees are quite hopeful that the adaptation’s release will increase manga sales to unprecedented heights. Similar to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, there is an expectation to capitalize on its anime’s success.
