Jujutsu Kaisen has been continuously dropping every week as of late, but rumors have it Gege Akutami is planning to take an occasional break.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s most recent break was in February due to Akutami’s sudden illness. Now, the mangaka is, reportedly, eyeing to take a short hiatus, and it may take a couple of weeks.
A special break
According to Comicbook, the news comes from one of the main fan pages of the franchise on Twitter.
Allegedly, some insider revealed the update that the manga would take a two-week break.
“There will be no Jujutsu Kaisen chapter for 2 weeks after this week’s upcoming chapter,” the tweet read.
“The first break is due to the entire Weekly Shonen Jump magazine being on a break after the upcoming double issue,” it continued. “The second break is solely related to Jujutsu Kaisen.”
Anyhow, either Akutami or the magazine itself has addressed the issue, though it is already confirmed that Weekly Shonen Jump will go on a full break soon.
There will be an upcoming holiday that will put the manga creators on a break. However, the alleged second-week gap may be on Akutami himself.
He may take some time for himself, which he truly deserves. When the manga returns, fans will surely continue supporting Yuji and the gang’s incredible tale.

The February break
In February, the manga suddenly went on a break due to Akutami’s sudden illness, per Anime News Network.
“Thank you for reading Jujutsu Kaisen,” the notice read. “The next chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen has been delayed due to the author’s sudden sick leave.”
“We’re very sorry to all of the readers who’ve been looking forward to it and thank them for their patience and support,” it continued. “Again, we apologize for the inconvenience.”
The then-new chapter didn’t make it in Weekly Shonen Jump’s 10th issue in February and came out the next issue instead.
The nearing manga’s ending
Meanwhile, in an interview with Mangadō Kobayashi Manga Taishō 2020 Grand Prix Akutami Gege Jujutsu Kaisen -Akai- in February, Akutami revealed the manga would “probably” end within two years.
When asked where the series was compared to Mt. Fuji’s major checkpoints, he said it’s already “around the sixth or seventh station.”
The mountain’s trail started at the fifth station, while its last checkpoint before the summit was the ninth station.
This meant Jujutsu Kaisen only had two stations left before it officially comes to an end.
