Julia Roberts, allegedly, had a crush on Matthew Perry years ago.
According to Globe, Julia Roberts told Friends writer Alexa Junge that Perry’s character in the sitcom is so funny.
“I remember standing with her on the sidelines during filming. She kept saying, ‘Chandler is so funny!’ And I’m like, ‘I wrote every one of those lines,’” Junge said.
Matthew Perry encouraged Julia Roberts to star in ‘Friends’
However, the tabloid claimed that when Perry asked Roberts to appear in Friends, she didn’t immediately say yes.
The actress first asked Perry to write a paper on quantum physics, and the actor delivered.
Perry, allegedly, faxed the paper that he wrote for Roberts the next day that’s why the actress appeared in Friends.
In the episode, Roberts played the role of Susie Moss, Chandler’s classmate who wanted revenge after he flipped her dress up when they were in fourth grade.
Julia Roberts, Matthew Perry dated for a year
Junge said that following Roberts’ appearance in the sitcom, a lot of people couldn’t help but notice her chemistry with Perry.
“I don’t know if she fell in love with Matthew on the spot, but they soon started dating,” the source said.
According to Mirror UK, Julia Roberts and Perry dated for a year between 1995 and 1996.
Fans of the couple previously posted a throwback photo of the two. And several other fans commented on the snap.
Since Roberts is barefoot in the photo and Perry is wearing socks, they speculated that something intimate must have happened between the former co-stars.
The former couple moves on from each other
Today, Roberts and Perry have already moved on from each other. Roberts has been married to Daniel Moder for almost 19 years.
Perry, on the other hand, recently got engaged to her fiancée, Molly Hurwitz.
In November, the Friends star revealed that he and Hurwitz decided to get engaged.
“Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time,” Perry told People.
As for Julia Roberts, there are rumors that she and Moder are on the brink of a divorce. However, there is no proof that this is the case.
