The animated dinosaur series, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous recently, debuted on Netflix. While garnering positive reviews, showrunner Scott Kreamer talks of potential season 2.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous tells the story of Isla Nublar set in the events of the Jurassic World film. The main characters are six teenagers who try to survive in an infested dinosaur environment after being stranded on the island. The teenagers will have to rely on each other to survive without the help of an adult.
On a side note, the show is executive produced by one of Hollywood’s iconic filmmaker, Steven Spielberg. Furthermore, the series contains eight episodes and aired on Sept. 18.

Talking to Collider, Kreamer has been excited about taking the story to the next level. He said:
“If we’re lucky enough to get to tell more stories with these characters, if you look at where the characters start and where they end, from a character perspective, there’s a lot of change and growth but by no means are they finished products. We definitely wanna see how these characters and their relationships evolve over time. That would be great. Plus at the end center of our story is that it’s a story about kids with no one to count on but each other. It’s a survival story.”
What to expect from season 2
If Netflix pushes the go signal, season 2 will continue the tale of survival of the six protagonists. Although the series features the animated version, Spielberg tells Netflix that he does not want a kiddie version. True enough, the first season ended with a cliffhanger, with the Indominus Rex destroying the park. Moreover, the dinosaurs are now on the loose, and the kids are now left behind.

Season 2 will also have a very intense tale of survival. Basically, the island is now filled with more meat-eating dinosaurs. On top of that, season 2 will also feature the return of Big Ben. The first installment may have already sealed Big Ben’s fate after he fell from the monorail train car.
However, at the end of the season, baby Ankylosaurus finds Ben and tries to wake him up. Thus, fans will get to see more of Big Ben in season 2.
“Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” season 2 release date
For now, there is no official date of release. However, if Netflix renews the series, it will follow the planned theatrical release of Jurassic World: Dominion, which will air in June 2021.
