There’s another good news for the fans of the Justice League movie Snyder Cut. It seems like it will be rated-R, along with a theatrical release!
According to Comicbook Movie, director Zack Snyder just dropped a big bomb for his and Justice League fans. In a recent interaction with Entertainment Weekly, he hinted at something huge. While talking about the film, he said that he’s discussing JL‘s theatrical and HBO Max’s arrival! Also, that they are trying to keep it R-rated for the utmost, desired impact.
Die-hard DC lovers will surely go berserk over this news if it actually becomes a reality.
Justice League: Movie rating and theatrical release
In the interview with EW, Snyder clearly said about a possible combination for his upcoming superhero film.
“I’m a huge fan and a big supporter of the cinematic experience, and we’re already talking about Justice League playing theatrically at the same time it’s coming to HBO Max. So weirdly, it’s the reverse.”
Well, the trend here means the decision of Warner Bros to release all its new films on HBO Max. So in a way, Snyder is saying that it’s not going to happen like that. Instead, his original cut will have both the options of streaming as well as cinemas.
Speaking on the issue of the controversial decision of the studio a few days ago, he said:
“It felt like a pretty bold move and that maybe the implication wasn’t 100 percent thought out. I feel like there’s a lot of people panicking during COVID. I hope that, in the end, that’s what this was — some knee-jerk to COVID and not some greater move to disrupt the theatrical experience.”
Further, he also said that he’s hoping for the Snyder Cut to receive an R-rating.
“Here’s one piece of information nobody knows: The movie is insane and so epic and is probably rated R — that’s one thing I think will happen, that it will be an R-rated version, for sure. We haven’t heard from the MPAA, but that’s my gut.”
Upcoming DCEU projects in the future
Meanwhile, Warner Bros is also gradually preparing itself for a good future, filled with several DC titles. After Wonder Woman 1984, arriving on Christmas over HBO Max and in theaters, there are other future movies.
Next year will see the start of production for Black Adam and Shazam 2. Matt Reeves’ The Batman is also expected to wrap by 2021. It will be released in the summer of 2022. Then there’s The Flash, a crossover-based, ambitious project by Andy Muschietti. Lastly, Aquaman 2 is also on the list, but there’s been no official word on it yet.
But before these flicks arrive, fans will get a great experience in the form of Snyder’s Justice League in 2021.
