Although Justin Bieber only lip-synced Selena Gomez’s name, fans seemed to dislike it.
In the clip, Khaled could be seen trying to get hold of Drake to shoot the video. He then scrolled through his phone and saw several calls from the music producer, per Us Weekly.
“This guy’s off his rocker. I just, I don’t know what to say. It’s every waking moment that I’m alive,” he said. “It’s like you give someone everything you have, and they’re just like, ‘Another one.'”
Drake explained he did not have the time to film the video as he was trying to finish a new album, Certified Lover Boy. From here, he thought of Justin, who could fill in for him.
Hailey Bieber’s husband then woke up in a mansion amid a wild party. He went out of bed and down the stairs while holding a champagne bottle and lip-synching Drake’s song.
“Look, Ariana, Selena, my Visa,” he sang, mentioning his former girlfriend’s name.
Hailey and Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun, also made an appearance in the clip. In the end, he woke up next to his wife and told her he had “a crazy dream.”
“Drake asked me to be in a video, but he wasn’t in the video. It was just a bunch of people,” he said.
The couple then headed out to walk their dog. Then, the Yummy hitmaker received a call from Drake and looked directly at the camera, looking confused.
Although Justin did not say anything about Gomez but only mention her name, fans seemed not to like it.
According to Glamour, there was no way the lyrics were defamatory at all. But due to Gomez and Justin’s tumultuous past, having an “emotionally abusive” romance, fans had a lot of thoughts.
“Twenty-twenty and Justin Bieber still has Selena Gomez’s name in his mouth,” one fan said on Twitter. “One thing about Justin Bieber is that he’ll always find a way to get himself involved in anything Selena is a part of,” another one added.
In a post on Instagram in 2019, Justin himself admitted he had an abusive relationship with Gomez. “I became resentful, disrespectful to women, and angry,” he revealed.
