Kanye West dropped another shocking news amid his political career.
In his recent interview with the “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, the multi-Grammy Award winner revealed that he is considering running as a Governor in California if he did not win the Presidential election.
“If it’s in God’s plan that part of my path is to be the governor then that’s fine, but my calling is to be the leader of the free world,” he said.
Kanye West as U.S. President?
In July, the “Flashing Lights” hitmaker announced that he is running for the 2020 U.S. presidential election under the independent party, which he called “birthday party.”
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” he tweeted, followed by a hashtag #2020VISION.
Although he earned support from his wife, Kim Kardashian and Tesla owner and business magnate, Elon Musk, the iconic rapper, received a wave of backlash from the public and even sparked brutal memes over Twitter.
Despite this, the Yeezy creator chose to shrug off criticisms and continue on his pursuit of the seat in the White House.
Unfortunately, with the national election about to start in just a couple of weeks, Ye appears to predict that he can’t win in the election given that the close fight is between the current U.S. President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Moreover, the father-of-four opened up about running again in 2024, and this time in a different political party.
“I’m definitely 100% winning in 2024,” he told Joe Rogan. “… I was thinking I would possibly be a Democrat.”
Ye details reason behind his Presidential Campaign
In addition, he also revealed the reason why he considered running to the said post and mentioned that it was a calling from God to “serve and lead” the country.
“It was something that God put in my heart back in 2015. A few days before the MTV awards it hit me in the shower,” Ye explained. “When I first thought of it, I just started laughing to myself, and all this joy came over my body, through my soul.”
Following this, the “All of the Lights” rapper reportedly spent $7 million on his self-funded campaign.
According to multiple reports, the majority of this went to hiring consultants and GOP operatives for “ballot access services.”
