According to a report, Kate Middleton had allegedly banned her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, from attending Prince Philip’s funeral service.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are often pitted against each other. One outlet claimed that the Duchess of Cambridge is getting her revenge on the Duchess of Sussex by not allowing her to attend Prince Philip’s funeral, but one should take the report with a grain of salt.
Kate Middleton allegedly banned Meghan from Prince Philip’s funeral
In Touch published a story claiming that Meghan Markle’s presence at the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral “would have made it awful.” Meanwhile, Prince Harry immediately flew to the U.K. after learning about his grandfather’s death.
The Duke of Sussex returned to his home country two days after Prince Philip’s death was announced. The 99-year-old royal passed away on April 9. However, an insider claimed that Prince Harry has “already been dreading seeing everyone again.” The outlet added that Markle did not accompany her husband because Kate Middleton allegedly banned her from the funeral.
“The last thing they want is more trouble at Prince Philip’s funeral, so she’s been snubbed,” an unnamed source said.
Middleton had allegedly made sure that Markle won’t be there. The insider added that it felt like the “perfect revenge” for the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate didn’t ban Meghan from the funeral
Gossip Cop debunked the report because it was not true. First, it’s not a good idea to ban Meghan Markle from Prince Philip’s funeral out of vengeance. The Duchess of Sussex is already part of the royal family after she married Prince Philip.
Second, Prince Harry, who loves his wife dearly, is unlikely to attend an event where his wife has been banned. The rumor-debunking site also did not believe the speculation that Prince William would not want to see his younger brother.
Prince William and Prince Harry were so close growing up. The latter also said that he would always love his older brother. Several sources also said that they were already talking.
Also, it’s questionable why Kate Middleton would want to ban Markle in the event. Despite the rumored tension between the two, the former Suits star made it clear that she and Middleton are on good terms. Markle even said Middleton is a “good person,” and those who support her should not hate the future queen consort.
Why did Meghan skip Prince Philip’s funeral?
Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry would attend Prince Philip’s funeral sans his wife, Meghan Markle, earlier. However, the reason had nothing to do with Kate Middleton. Markle was advised by her doctors not to travel because she is heavily pregnant.
Prince Harry and Markle announced in February that they were expecting their second child. The royal couple said during their interview with Oprah Winfrey that they are expecting a baby girl.
Meghan is staying in California because it was what her doctors advised her. Prince Harry and Markle are taking this precaution seriously because she had a miscarriage last year. Also, the doctors don’t think the stress of taking the trip is worth her risking losing another baby, a source told Us Weekly.
