Kate Middleton and Prince William have experienced and conquered the difficult times they encountered when they were dating, royal experts say.
Kate Middleton and Prince William have been dating each other for over five years before he proposed to her. According to royal experts, there was a time when the Duke and Duchess had to decide where their relationship was heading to.
Kate Middleton and Prince William relationship revisited
Prince William and Kate Middleton took their time before they tied the knot. The Duke of Cambridge waited for years to make sure that Middleton was the one for him. Due to the long wait, the duchess was dubbed Waity Katie.
At one point in their relationship, Middleton demanded more commitment from the royal prince. According to royal biographer Katie Nicholl in a 2011 documentary, Middleton pushed Prince William into a corner. Nicholl believed at the time, Middleton wanted more commitment from him because he was busy with his military service, exams, and training.
“He was very involved with his military commitments. And I think at the same time it had become increasingly difficult for them to spend time together,” Nicholl said about the couple per Express.
According to Nicholl, Prince William would be at the Bovington barracks during weekdays. And on weekends, he would stay with his new Army pals. So, his military commitments took up all his time. He was so engrossed with it that he didn’t want to return to London on weekends where Middleton had been waiting for him.
Why it took so long for Prince William to propose to Kate
Royal correspondent Camilla Tominey weighed on the Cambridges’ relationship. According to her, Prince William was pressured by his grandparents to choose someone to marry. He was also pressured by the thought that the Queen doesn’t want another divorce in the family
However, he took his time because he didn’t want to do the same mistake as his father, Prince Charles. The Prince of Wales was also pressured into marrying Princess Diana. She was the perfect royal bride. At the time, he was already 32 and was pressured to settle down.
Tominey believed that Prince William and Middleton still had some questions about their relationship. They took their time and made up their mind that they wanted to be together.
Prince William proposed to Middleton in 2010 using Princess Diana’s engagement ring. They tied the knot in April 2011. Last April, they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
