Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles’s husbands are the future kings, Prince William and Prince Charles, respectively. Both have a chance to be queen consort, but Camilla’s future as the next queen consort remains questionable.
Prince Charles and Prince William are the first two heirs to the throne. Both will reign when their respective time comes.
However, Camilla’s future as the next queen remains a debate, while experts are sure that Kate Middleton will become one. According to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, the Duchess of Cornwall’s case is “an issue which is hypersensitive and remains a problem.”
“Kate will be Queen Consort without any question,” Fitzwilliams told Express.
“We’ve only quite recently had the clarification again that Camilla will be Princess Consort, not Queen Consort.”
Fitzwilliams said that the title Princess Consort didn’t exist before Camilla. It was invented for her to clarify her future title because many are still wondering if she would be queen.
“The only reason Camilla isn’t Queen Consort is, of course, because of the background with Diana,” Fitzwilliams explained.
Princess Diana announced in her infamous Panorama interview that Prince Charles had an affair with Camilla while they were still married. The late Princess of Wales won the support of the public, especially after her death.
Prince Charles and Camilla had a hard time winning the people to support their relationship. Eventually, the public has warmed up to them. However, many are still not supportive of Camilla being the next queen consort.
Buckingham Palace has repeatedly stressed that Camilla will not become a queen. When she married Prince Charles, the palace announced that she would only be a princess consort when the Prince of Wales takes over the throne.
Just recently, the palace announced again that Camilla will remain a princess consort when Prince Charles reigns. However, there are several royal experts who still believe that she will be a queen consort.
CNN contributor Victoria Arbiter believes that Camilla will be a queen consort. Robert Jobson also shares the same opinion. In fact, he is confident about it, saying, “there is no question about that.”
Royal commentator Dickie Arbiter also has the same perspective. According to the royal expert, there is no other title for the wife of the king. So, once Prince Charles reigns, his wife will have the highest title opposite to him.
