Kate Middleton was accused of upstaging Meghan Markle on Archie’s baptism.
Kate Middleton and Prince William were among the few royals who attended Archie’s christening. However, many reacted because they saw something in Middleton that should have been handed to Meghan Markle.
Kate Middleton accused of upstaging Meghan on Archie’s baptism
Kate Middleton looked elegant and classy when she attended the christening of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son. Royal fans couldn’t help but praise her on social media. In fact, many noticed the Duchess of Cambridge than Archie’s mom when the palace released the official photos from the event.
However, aside from Middleton’s look, she wore something that sparked drama. Prince William’s wife wore Princess Diana’s pair of earrings on Prince Harry’s christening in 1984, Cosmopolitan reported.
Several attacked the royal mom of three for wearing it. According to them, Markle should have worn the accessory, instead of Middleton.
Body language speaks up
Body language expert Judi James examined the photos released on Archie’s christening. Aside from Middleton’s controversial earrings, several netizens found the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tense and awkward in the photo.
“With a very relaxed and jolly-looking Camilla down one end of this pose, Kate sits at the other looking oddly self-diminished and prim, with her arms pulled into her torso and a part-smile on her face,” James explained to The Sun.
“Given all the rift rumours the rather ‘ready to flee’ tension in her pose could be seen as awkwardness but it could also show a desire to lower her own status signals and not upstage the happy couple,” she added.
Markle left royal family due to Kate Middleton
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced in January that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family.
In April, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex became non-working royals officially. Their exit sparked various rumors with some speculating that they were feuding with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Meanwhile, some said they wanted to live a quiet and normal life for their son, Archie. Others said Prince Harry and Markle didn’t want to live by the royal family’s rules.
Prince William’s brother has been a reluctant royal. Years before meeting Meghan Markle, he already expressed his interest in living a life out of the spotlight.
However, according to Victoria Mather, Vanity Fair’s royal watcher, Middleton had something to do with Markle’s decision. Mather said Markle didn’t want to “spend the rest of her life looking at Kate Middleton’s back as she sat in the second row to the future queen.”
