Kate Middleton uses a special trick to perfect her wardrobe. Learn the hacks she uses to hide her shapewear, bra straps and panty lines.
The Duchess of Cambridge is one of the most fashionable royals. Many love Middleton’s style and this is visible in the Kate Replicate community
When dressing up, Prince William’s wife always makes sure that everything is in place especially her undergarments. So, etiquette expert Myka Meier shares how Middleton hides her bra, shapewear and panty lines.
Middleton’s fashion hacks revealed
Meier shared photos of Middleton wearing a semi-sheer baby blue Elie Saab dress on Instagram. In the picture, her bra strap isn’t visible. There are also no visible panty lines (VPL), too.
The expert also shares a snap of one-piece strapless shapewear. According to her, it’s a “must-have royal wardrobe piece.”
Meier told Fabulous that the royals consider underwear and bras private intimate wear, so they never put it on display. Thus, they hide bra straps by sewing it into the piece or using strapless shapewear. Also, to avoid visible panty line (VPL) when wearing trousers and fitted dresses, they use seamless knickers, undergarments or shapewear.
According to Meir, royals also wear body suits to “increase the static” and avoid Marilyn Monroe moments. Queen Elizabeth II has a different strategy to avoid such embarrassing moments. The Queen’s couturier, Stewart Parvin, said that he adds weights into the hemline to let the dress hang beautifully.
Middleton overtakes Meghan Markle as the biggest royal fashion influencer
Earlier this year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step back from their royal duties. Their decision seemed to affect “The Meghan Effect” because Markle isn’t as influential anymore.
In 2017 and 2018 when Markle was about to join the royal family, her fashion influence quickly exceeded Middleton’s. In fact, she surpassed Middleton in 2017 Lyst’s fashion influencers by making it to the fourth spot. Middleton lagged behind by ranking fifth.
Markle also made it into Lyst’s top fashion influencers in 2018 but Middleton failed. Markle went up and ranked third next to the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian. Kylie topped the list with her older sister lagging behind her on the second spot.
However, Markle’s fashion influence has slowly faded away. But while Markle’s effect has taken a tumble, Middleton has inspired more to follow her fashion.
Yes, “The Kate Effect” is once again on the rise. In fact, there was an average of 119% increase in searches for the items Middleton wears. This year, Middleton drives a 159% increase in demand while Markle dropped to an average of just 31%, Standard reported.
