Katherine Langford may have bid goodbye to 13 Reasons Why but she’s not done with Netflix yet. The young actress has a new series.
Katherine Langford is famous for her role as Hannah Baker in 13 Reasons Why. After airing a total of four seasons, the series ended for good.
And now Langford is moving on with a new show. This time, she’s very much alive in the present and she’s given some magic powers and a sword.
New series, new role
The Australian actress is the main star of Netflix’s upcoming series called Cursed. It’s a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Langford’s character, Nimue.
Cursed is also based on the book of TV writer Tom Wheeler and acclaimed comics writer and illustrator Frank Miller. And as mentioned, it will follow the version of the King Arthur legend in which the Lady of the Lake is the true hero.
Nimue is described as a young woman who agonized for her magical gifts. Little did she know that she was destined to wield a sword and rescue the people of her land.
She’s not as famous as King Arthur, but she definitely plays a part in the story that many think they know.
Released trailer
To bring the hype up, Netflix released the first look of the series. The one minute’s teaser trailer shows Langford in action, holding the legendary sword and referring to her as the “queen.”
The official synopsis also sheds light on what the story is all about. As revealed, Nimue finds an unexpected partner in Arthur after her mother’s death. They will go on a journey together to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword.
“Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.”
“Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.”
