Katy Perry joins the slew of celebrity supporters Ellen DeGeneres has.
Orlando Bloom’s partner shows her support to the 62-year-old host by sharing her own experience on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
In a couple of tweets, Perry shut down the alleged toxic work environment the show has by revealing her “positive takeaways.” The 35-year-old singer-songwriter is just one of the many celebrities who come forward to defend the comedian.
Perry, de Rossi, Ronson show support to DeGeneres
“I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own,” Perry started her tweet. “But I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen [and] on the @theellenshow.”
The soon-to-be mom also talked about the advocacy DeGeneres fights in support of everyone.
“I think we all have witnessed the light [and] continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades,” she added. “Sending you love [and] a hug, friend @TheEllenShow.”
Aside from the American Idol judge, DeGeneres’ spouse, Portia de Rossi, also came to her defense.
“To all our fans….we see you. Thank you for your support,” she said in a post on Instagram. She then used the hashtags #stopbotattacks, #IStandWithEllenDeGeneres, #IStandByEllen, #IstandByEllenDeGeneres, and #bekindtooneanother.
J Samantha Ronson also stood in unity with other DeGeneres supporters. In a tweet, she revealed she used to work on Ellen as a DJ. She also worked for DeGeneres herself “for her parties for years.”
“She has ALWAYS been respectful and kind to me,” she said.
Ronson also responded to the accusations that DeGeneres was only nice to people with celebrity status.
“I knew this was coming, but you’d be surprised by how many people are super rude when you become someone they are writing a cheque to,” she continued. “It’s super disappointing.”
The controversy DeGeneres faces
DeGeneres has been in the middle of a controversy after former Ellen staffers revealed the alleged “toxic and abusive” work environment happening on the show’s set. There are also allegations made against the show’s producers, who, allegedly, committed sexual misconduct, Entertainment Weekly noted.
WarnerMedia has then launched an internal investigation to look into the matter. DeGeneres, alternatively, issued a statement to address the issue.
She took full responsibility for the show’s settings but revealed she was unaware of what’s happening. Ellen DeGeneres also cleared that she never participated in any form of bullying on the set, contrary to some reports.
