Keira Knightley drops out from ‘The Essex Serpent’ series

Keira Knightley has backed out from Apple TV+ series The Essex Serpent. She decided due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK.

According to Deadline, Keira Knightley dramatically dropped out of the series production.

Right now, the show is in a pre-production state and will take time to complete. Knightley decided to drop weeks after her announcement.

Another serious reason is obviously COVID-19. The United Kingdom witnessed the second wave of cases.

The Essex Serpent is an adaptation of Sarah Perry’s novel of the same name.

Due to family reasons, the actress is now out of the show even before the shoot. But it revealed that her role was of Cora.

The series plot revolves around newly-widowed Cora. While relocating from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter, she learns about the Essex Serpent.

She gets to know, according to local superstition, that the mythical creature has returned.

Meanwhile, now that Keira has dropped out, a new face will be sought for the character.

And the show will see a big delay and may start shooting in mid-2021. This is believed by the sources and tabloids.

Apple TV+ future projects and upcoming series

Apple TV+ is giving out new series consistently. Recently, it was announced that the second season of Dickinson would arrive in January 2021.

Not only that, but its also renewed for a third season as well. This was announced last week, even before the second season’s launch.

Other Apple TV+ projects include a Billie Eilish documentary. It will arrive in December on the streaming platform.

Upcoming releases on the service are Foundation, a big sci-fi series. The trailer and first look were unveiled earlier this year in June. It was during the WWDC virtual event of Apple.

There are various new titles, as well as coming out soon.

The list includes Five Days at Memorial, Fraggie Rock, Harriet the Spy, Hedy Lamarr, High Desert, and Invasion.

Lisey’s Story, Masters of the Air, The Mosquito Coast, My Kind of Country, Severance, Shining Girls, The Shrink Next Door, and Physical are also there.

So far, The Morning Show and Dickinson are one of the best series on the service. The former even won the platform’s first Emmy award.

In the horror genre, The Servant is also regarded as a good take from Apple TV+. It started streaming last year.

The Essex Serpent seems to be the new big drama in this category. Although Keira Knightley has backed out, the show makers will try to make it amazing and entertaining with a new cast.
