Kelly Clarkson recollected the time she encountered one of Carrie Underwood’s fans in the past.
Kelly Clarkson recalled that one time she had with a fan who mistook her for Carrie Underwood.
When the American Idol began searching for talents, Clarkson overshadowed everyone and became its first winner. After a few seasons, Underwood became her successor by reigning during the fourth season.
However, despite their very distinct features, one fan actually experienced a hard time distinguishing the two.
Who is who?
During the Friday episode of Clarkson’s TV show, the host admitted that they led some fans confused most of the time.
The “Because of You” hitmaker then revealed that a fan once approached her for an autograph.
“This girl came up to me and was like, ‘Oh my god, your song ‘So Small’ is one of my favorites,'” she remembered. “And I kept thinking, ‘I don’t have a song “So Small.” ‘And then she said another song and I was like, ‘Oh, you think I’m Carrie Underwood.'”
The event somewhat made her think whether she should reveal that she is not Underwood. She also had second thoughts in correcting the fan.
Clarkson went on to claim that she looks nothing like her co-American Idol winner. Instead of speaking the truth, she felt embarrassed for her.
The whole atmosphere became more awkward when the young woman asked her for her autograph.
“And I totally signed ‘Carrie Underwood.’ I think that might be illegal!” she admitted while fearing what she did.
This cheeky story came up when the talk show host played a game with guests Michelle Buteau and Cheryl Hines.
Like her, the two had a fair share of awkward moments. They even revealed that they had similar involvement with people mistaking them for Kim Coles and Julie Bowen, respectively.
Not the first time!
Although it sounded like a new account to some fans, it was not the first time Clarkson disclosed the story.
When she appeared on Z100’s Elvis Duran and The Morning show in 2016, she shared a similar tale in which she was mistaken for Underwood.
However, some netizens failed to find justice in those statements.
One fan said, “Underwood is prettier, but Clarkson is a better singer; That fan was ripped off as well. She should’ve been truthful with the fan.”
Another one wrote, “Not sure how someone can mistake these two. Kelly is large and not so attractive. Whereas, Carrie is hot and thin.”
