Marvel Studios’ boss Kevin Feige just officially revealed that the future of MCU, from now on, will heavily focus on the multiverse!
Kevin Feige reveals multiverse to be the future of MCU.
According to IGN, Kevin Feige, in a recent interaction with Rotten Tomatoes TV, talked about the future of MCU. He revealed that the multiverse concept is going to play a crucial role in the upcoming installments.
He clearly stated that it’s time for them to “embrace the Multiverse and the madness therein.”
Marvel Cinematic Multiverse
Speaking of his recent interview, Mr. Feige heavily emphasized the concept of the multiverse. He said that connections to this aspect would appear in the franchise “before and after” Doctor Strange 2. The Benedict Cumberbatch movie is touted to be a rollercoaster ride filled with lots of complex elements hitherto unseen in the MCU.
Here’s what the head of Marvel Studios told in his interaction with Rotten Tomatoes TV:
“The title of the next Doctor Strange movie is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so that is our biggest clue that that movie will embrace the Multiverse and the madness therein, very directly.”
“There are, as we always like to do, connections before and after that, which will remain to be seen and discovered.”
WandaVision and Spider-Man 3 are currently those projects that deal with the multiverse-related stuff. And they will surely have ties to the events of Doctor Strange 2. Yes, there’s no official word on it, but it’s almost confirmed to happen.
While the Elizabeth Olsen starrer show is streaming right now on Disney Plus, Tom Holland’s threequel will arrive later. How the entire timeline changes in the coming years will be interesting to see because there will be many things that might change forever once the dimensions are altered or crossed over.
Upcoming MCU content in the future
Meanwhile, the biggest franchise in the world, at the moment, is gearing up for its next journey. There was a long halt due to the pandemic, but now it seems like the situation is improving.
TV show WandaVison has already begun phase four with a bang. And the streak is expected to continue from now on. In March, another series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will debut on Disney’s streaming service. Future shows include Secret Invasion, Loki, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Armors Wars, Ironheart, and Moon Knight. And yes, the concept of the multiverse will be present among them all.
However, when it comes to movies, then there seems to be another big delay ahead. Because of the growing cases of COVID-19, the theatrical release of many big-budget flicks, including Marvel’s Black Widow, are witnessing another round of delay. The Scarlett Johansson movie won’t arrive in May as per its previous schedule. It will now have a new date in the coming months. In fact, all other MCU films are going to be postponed as well. It is disappointing news for all the fans of the franchise.
