Kevin Hart supports Ellen DeGeneres after she defended his homophobic remarks

Kevin Hart has seemingly returned the favor to Ellen DeGeneres one year after the latter defended his homophobic remarks.

This week, Kevin Hart shared a photo of himself with DeGeneres during his time on Ellen Show. The snaps the two comedians smiling from ear to ear.

Kevin Hart pays tributes to Ellen DeGeneres

On his Instagram account, Hart wrote a touching tribute to his good friend. He also said that DeGeneres had treated him, his family, and his team with respect from day one.

“It’s crazy to see my friend go through what she’s going through publicly. I have known Ellen for years and I can honestly say that she’s one of the dopest people on the [expletive] planet,” Hart wrote.

Kevin Hart hopes for things to go back to normal soon

The comedian also said that the Internet had become a place for so much negativity.

“We are falling in love with people’s downfall. It’s honestly sad… When did we get here? I stand by the ones that I know and love. Looking forward to the future where we get back to loving one another. This hate has to stop. Hopefully, it goes out of style soon,” he wrote.

Hart also said that his support for DeGeneres isn’t intended to diminish the negative experiences of other people. Rather, he’s simply talking from his experiences with the Ellen Show host.

Ellen DeGeneres forgives, gives fellow comedian a second chance

Last year, DeGeneres went all out in defending Hart following his series of homophobic tweets. The comedian also found herself in hot water for encouraging the Academy to reconsider Hart as the host of the previous Oscars.

DeGeneres also posted a clip from her interview with Hart and said that she believes in forgiveness and second chances.

The comedian talks about his homophobic tweets and gay jokes

Five years ago, Hart talked about his homophobic tweets and gay jokes during his interview with Rolling Stone. The comedian said that his jokes are based on his fears.

“I’m thinking about what I did as a dad, did I do something wrong, and if I did, what was it? Not that I’m not gonna love my son or think about him any differently. I wouldn’t tell that joke today, because when I said it, the times weren’t as sensitive as they are now. I think we love to make big deals out of things that aren’t necessarily big deals because we can. These things become public spectacles. So why set yourself up for failure?” he said.

Hart’s tweets resurfaced shortly after he was announced as the host of the Oscars. And the backlash that he received encouraged him to drop out of the gig.

Despite DeGeneres’ support last year, Kevin Hart still didn’t host the awards show.
