The recently launched Nintendo Direct Mini Partner Showcase showed off Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, which, for the second time around, highlights more of what to expect in the game in addition to a release date in the year.
Best described as a rhythm game set within the world of Kingdom Hearts, the game fuses action and right-timing button presses. Like all rhythm games, the key is a perfect time-specific button command, as shown on the screen, which corresponds to certain actions.
Illustrated by series director Tetsuya Nomura, we're proud to present the brand-new key art for #KingdomHearts Melody of Memory, coming to #NintendoSwitch, #PS4 and #Xbox One on November 13, 2020!

Miss a button command, and a corresponding action is also missed. Get it impeccably right, however, you will garner points as well as react appropriately to the button command.
As Seen in the Trailer
The trailer itself has been pretty explicit in showing how the game will play. Which perfectly represents how a rhythm game would look like when fused with a role-playing game. Featuring Utada Hikaru’s iconic song, Simple and Clean, it sees Sora gliding through the air while highlighting Dream Drop Distance’s scenes in the background.
Throughout the series, we have seen many interesting characters, some of which being playable characters. In this game, each of those figures remains and also playable if the player chooses. Which, as per trailer confirmation, include 358/2 Days’ Axel, Roxas, and Xion. It is also likely that Birth by Sleep’s Aqua, Terra, and Ventus would also be playable, too.
An Expansive Kingdom Hearts Experience
With over 140 songs, the game covers the franchise’s large library of music, most of which the player has to unlock. New songs are unlocked by completing pre-existing challenges.
Being able to cruise through the game’s many songs with basic enemies is fun as far as unlocking new content. But players can also expect to go through obstacles along the way in the form of bosses.
Making the game more engaging to players, Melody of Memory features both local co-op and online multiplayer. This means that whether people in the same space or away from each other can still enjoy the game, whether cooperatively or competitively.
Experience the music of #KingdomHearts like never before…

Exclusively for the Nintendo Switch version, the game features a Free-for-All mode that lets up to eight players experience the fun of the game.
Seemingly a reimagining of the entire series with new gameplay tied in. But Melody of Memory is also about continuing the series, picking up where Kingdom Hearts 3 ReMind DLC left off.
Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, and the Switch on November 13, 2020.
