The season 2 of the highly popular Korean horror series, Kingdom, has been streaming on Netflix since March this year. However, fans are now getting enthusiastic about the renewal of Kingdom season 3.
Season 1 and 2 of the series have received high praise from the viewers. It was adopted from the webcomic series The Kingdom of the Gods, written by Kim Eun-hee. Moreover, it has released a total of 12 episodes for the past 2 seasons.
Kingdom season 3 Netflix release details
Although the series is a complete success, Netflix has not yet confirmed its renewal for the third season. However, creator Kim Eun-hee shared her plans on how long she wishes the series to run. She said:
“Strangely enough, Kingdom is a series that gives me more energy the more I write it. The cast and crew all have great chemistry, and there’s so much more to tell. If viewers allow, I would love to see it develop even up to season 10.”
Fans are to expect more as soon as Netflix lifts the pending renewal status of the series. Tendencies are Kingdom season 3 may be released late 2021 or early 2022 on Netflix.
New cast revealed
The new character will take the role of the mysterious plant seller from the north—a yet to be discovered identity in the series. The character could be an accomplice or a villain. She will be portrayed by Jun Ji Hyun, who is said to be a plant seller from the north on the borders of Korea and China.

Her character maybe just an innocent plant seller who wished to do a decent living. She could also be someone working for the Ming Dynasty with the intention of reducing the population in Korea to make it easier for China to conquer the country. Moreover, she could even be just someone who wants to sit back and see how the world would fall—a thing to look forward to the next season.
Kingdom season 3 plot
The story would pick up from where it ended in season 2. This was seven years after the prince got infected as a baby and was believed to be immune by the virus. Season 2 revealed that one of the worms remained inside the prince’s body.

Furthermore, the worm has also traveled to his brain. This may cause him great danger, or it will turn him into a zombie, but much wiser and smarter as it transforms. This is another one of the greatest plots we have to look forward on Kingdom season 3.
