A security breach has impacted the multi-million-dollar cosmetics company of Kylie Jenner.
Shopify, the website that hosts the cosmetic website of Kylie Jenner, informed their customers that two support employees attempted to steal transaction records.
Per TMZ, Kylie Cosmetics sent an email to the customers on Tuesday night.
The email reads, “Shopify informed us that this incident affected names, addresses, emails, product orders, and the last four digits of the credit card of our impacted customers.”
“We wanted to let you know that the company that manages our e-commerce platform – Shopify – recently informed us that they experienced a security incident.”
It isn’t just Kylie Cosmetics impacted by the incident, but less than 200 companies more that are hosting their stores on Shopify.
Thankfully, Shopify confirmed that full payment details were not compromised.
Any orders that will be placed on the Kylie Cosmetics website are already safe and secure.
The e-commerce platform is still working with the FBI and other international agencies as they continue their investigation.
However, Shopify confirms that the security breach was not a result of a technical vulnerability on their end, “and the vast majority of merchants using Shopify are not affected.”
Kylie’s billions
Founded in 2014, Kylie Jenner became a household name in the beauty industry after launching Kylie Lip Kits, and it has been doing good since then.
Even without “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” she still has an income to rely on.
After all, the 24-year-old is already making billions through Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Skin, and several product endorsements.
In November 2019, Kylie Jenner sold 51% of her cosmetics and skincare brand to cosmetic giant Coty for $600 million. Its price tag values the enterprise at $1.2 billion.
Kylie Jenner has a net worth of $900 million.
Kylie Cosmetics criticisms
Despite the company’s success, Kylie Cosmetics experienced some bumps on the road.
In 2017, Kylie Jenner received backlash from fans, beauty gurus, and social media users after launching a set of 16 “luxury brushes” priced at $360.
The release of her concealer line, Skin Concealer, also received negative feedbacks in 2017.
Social media users claim that Kylie copied Rihanna’s makeup line, Fenty Beauty, for coming up with 30 shades of concealer to cater to all skin types.
She released blushes in 2018, and the shade names were very provocative, especially for the younger fans of the social media influencer.
It sparked anger among fans that she used “Hot and Bothered,” and “Barely Legal” as names on her blushes.
