Fans and avid players in the Americas may now download and play the open beta release of “League of Legends: Wild Rift.”
Riot Games launched a closed beta iteration of League of Legends: Wild Rift in Southeast Asian countries earlier in September. Nearly three months later, the open beta followed and reached several other regions, including Europe, Middle East, Oceania, North Africa, Russia, and Turkey.
While the rest of the globe has already enjoyed and experienced the pre-released mobile version of the game, individuals from the Americas had to wait for three more months. On Monday, however, the long wait has finally concluded.
Comic Book released a report on the matter, claiming that Riot Games even dropped the new mobile version in U.S. territories on an earlier date. Although it remains unclear why it happened, avid fans of LoL in the region immediately started to download the material on their devices.
About ‘League of Legends: Wild Rift’
The publication said that gamers might download League of Legends: Wild Rift on their iOS or Android devices. The iteration appears to have similar features as its counterpart on PC.
It remains undisclosed, though, when Riot Games will release the full version of the mobile game. But, reports stated that the overall downloads since its initial release have already reached 22 million.
The video game developer first announced Wild Rift in 2019. At that time, they expected the launch to take place in 2020. But, due to the pandemic, Riot Games had to delay the release.
A classic yet, ‘reimagined’ version for mobile
The Washington Post recently released an overview of League of Legends: Wild Rift. As noted, it is like the “classic” PC game, which features a normal game mode.
It also has the ranked mode, tutorial mode, and the versus bots. The only difference, though, is that the mobile version has yet to include an ARAM mode, or also known as the “All Random, All Mid.”
While there are a few differences between the classic LoL and Wild Rift, these are only minor. Game design director Brian Feeney even stated that they don’t want the mobile version to be a “new game to learn.”
The future of ‘Wild Rift’
The same outlet continued that Riot Games has previously teased some of its future plans for the mobile game. Despite not revealing the actual release date yet of the full version, they have already unveiled their visions in the world of consoles and esports.
As reported, the game developer and publisher will bring League of Legends: Wild Rift to consoles. They did not specify, though, which platforms and when this will materialize. Likewise, the details of the plans to become a mobile eSport remain unclear. Nevertheless, Riot Games said that more information regarding this route will emerge before the year ends.
