Samsung has not given up on the tablet market yet as leaks reveal that the company will soon launch two Android tablets.
Apple has dominated the tablet market for quite some time now with its iPad and iPad pro. When it comes to tablet choices, Android offerings are usually the second option. But now, the Korean tech giant will try to take on Apple with its upcoming 12.4-inch and 11-inch tablets.
There are no official announcements yet but the reputable Samsung mobile resource website, Sammobile, has reported that the new devices might be named either the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 or Galaxy Tab S20.
Larger display, fully loaded specs
The upcoming flagship tablets are currently made under the SM-T97x and SM-T87x models. The two different sizes will be available alongside LTE versions and Wi-Fi only variants.
Just like last year’s Tab S6, the new tablet is expected to have a flagship processor. It can be the Exynos 990 or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. If that is the case, then the Tab S7 will have 5G connectivity as well.
One main improvement for the tablets is its display size. Samsung has been leading the display department for smartphones and tablets with its QuadHD Super AMOLED displays. However, the screen size of the Tab S6 last year was not enough to rival the iPad’s screen. In terms of quality and display, it is above Apple’s offering. But the screen real estate, that’s the problem that they are trying to solve this year.
The usual trend for Samsung’s tablets is to incorporate the good components from their flagship smartphones. With that being said, the Tab S7 might follow Samsung S20‘s suit and get at least 8 GB of memory with 128 GB of base storage. It will likely carry over an expandable microSD card slot.
Cameras are not a tablet’s strongest point. However, tablet cameras are improving over the last few years and Samsung may place a triple camera system on the tablet like the S20. If not, then the 12-megapixel main camera of the S20 is more than enough to take photos of documents, do work-related tasks, and occasional photos.
Both tablet variants will ship out with Android 10 installed with Samsung’s One UI.
Samsung updates Tab S6 software
Speaking of software, last year’s flagship the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 finally receives an Android 10 update. The update was first rolled out in Germany and other countries are expected to receive the update notification anytime soon.
The Android 10 update comes with Samsung One UI 2.0 and it adds new features such as Music Share and Quick Share.
