There’s not a lot we know about the sequel aside from that. It will probably take place in Hyrule and that Link and Zelda could be working together. With regards to how the world will be explored, it seems like Nintendo will take a more linear approach this time around.
Players are concerned that there might not be a lot of new things in the world of Hyrule as there could be only a few years difference between the events in the current game and the sequel. This led some to believe that time traveling will once again be a part of a Legend of Zelda game.
Throughout The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, players were given a glimpse of what Hyrule was like before Calamity Ganon destroyed everything with the help of Guardians. Those events were exactly 100 years before Link wakes up in the game.
Despite their limited time in the game, players loved the four Champions of Hyrule who once guided Link and continued to guide him even when they were dead. Fans now want more time to spend with the champions, and the only way to do so is by sending Link to the past.
Having his time travel to the past will be a great way to introduce new areas in Hyrule as well as new characters and new enemies to meet. The good thing is that the series isn’t a stranger to time-bending elements.
Time-traveling was prominent most in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. In this classic game, players get to control the young and adult versions of Link. To access one or the other, players simply have to move forward or backward in time.
It was an amazing story and gameplay element, as players can really see the differences between the present and future versions of Hyrule. Moreover, it was exciting to alter some events in the past to see how it can change things in the future.
This would be a great way to introduce a lot of new story elements and gameplay mechanics to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, and hopefully, Nintendo does consider having time-traveling around for the sequel.
