Nintendo has had a great year so far with the release of Paper Mario: Origami King and the first DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield. The year could be even bigger with the release of a Switch version of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.
Fans have been longing for a remaster of old The Legend of Zelda games. Most particularly, they are looking for a remaster of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. A new listing suggests that fans could get what they are looking for, but a remaster is still blurry for now.
Listing leaked
A listing on Amazon UK showed that the game could be released for the Switch. However, there are no other details or even a release date on the game’s listing. While people are highly skeptical of the leak, fans are hoping that the game eventually releases for the Switch.
Both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were released for the Wii U. Fans are hoping that eventually, both games make it to the Switch as well. However, the biggest hurdle for the developers is the game’s motion controls.
The titles are highly reliant on motion controls made possible by the Wiimote and Nunchuks. Even series producer Eijo Aonuma has said that porting the game to the Switch will be a difficult task. Doing so means having to change the way The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is played.
What is the game about?
Although The Legend of Zelda games follows no particular order, Skyward Sword is believed to be the first game in the series chronologically. The game’s ending hints that it was the beginning of the long battle between good and evil in the series. Even the books about the game say that Skyward Sword is the first chronologically.
In terms of gameplay, the community is divided about Skyward Sword. Fans loved the game and its story, but the motion controls made it hard to play. As such, porting it to the Switch and making the controls center more on buttons might actually do it justice.
A Switch version of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is unconfirmed for now, but fans have their hopes up. The game is regarded as being one of the best in the series in terms of story. Of course, a new game before The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 releases will be much appreciated as well.
