The Lenovo Legion Duel is Lenovo’s first gaming smartphone.
Lenovo has officially taken the wraps off its first gaming smartphone—the Legion Duel. Launched in China as the Legion Pro, the device is just as over-the-top as you’d have expected if you’ve been following its leaks and speculations previously.
And for a phone that has been launched alongside the ASUS ROG Phone 3, that’s saying something.
A worship-worthy side pop-up camera
The star of the show is the placement of the phone’s selfie snapper, specifically engineered to accommodate modern gamers who usually hold the device horizontally. This is also especially beneficial to users who stream their gaming live regularly. Lenovo places the 20MP selfie snapper that features a motorized mechanism on its side.
The placement of the front-facing shooter on its side doesn’t only benefit the users down the line. This placement also allows Lenovo to equip the phone with a notch- and punch-hole-less display.
6.65-inch AMOLED with a 144Hz refresh rate
The phone features a 6.65-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. The phone’s display also supports HDR10+ and a high 144Hz refresh rate.
Lenovo also manages to cram in two cameras on its rear panel. These are headlined by a large 64MP wide sensor and accompanied by a 16MP ultra-wide lens.
Snapdragon 865+ chip with 5,000mAh battery
Under the hood, the Lenovo Legion Duel is noted for being the first smartphone in the industry to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865+ chipset. The device is then coupled with 8GB/12GB/16GB of RAM tiers and a non-expandable set of 128GB/256GB/512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage options.
The Lenovo Legion Duel is also listed with a massive 5,000mAh battery, which supports a staggering 90W fast wired charging. Lenovo claims that it can juice up a flat battery to up to 50% in 10 minutes and 100% in only 30 minutes with the right charger.
Lenovo uses dual battery cells to deliver the 90W fast charging accordingly. The dual-cell system should also keep users’ hands cooler by moving them away from hot-running chips.
Lenovo also places one of the two USB-C charging ports on the side of the device. This should allow users to charge while they play.
The Lenovo Legion Duel runs on Legion OS, based on the latest Android 10. Other notable features of the phone include an in-display fingerprint reader, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, and stereo speakers.
Pricing and availability
The smartphone features a price of CNY 3,499 for its base 8GB/128GB variant, while its top-tier 12GB/128GB, 12GB/256GB, and 16GB/512GB editions retail for CNY 3,899, CNY 4,199, and CNY 5,999, respectively. The Lenovo Legion Duel is tipped to launch in Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America first.
