The LG Q92 is touted as the lower-cost alternative to the more premium LG Velvet 5G.
In July 2020, LG made rounds online when it trademarked a mind-blowing 13 Q-series of smartphones with their names. One of the very first to emerge from this lineup is the LG Q92 5G, and less than two months since its inception from the rumor mill, the smartphone has finally gone official.
Touted as the stripped-down version of the top-tier LG Velvet 5G, the LG Q92 5G is also the more affordable version between the two. Despite some cost-cutting with its features and specifications, the phone still did manage to retain vital perks down the line.
LG Q92 5G: Snapdragon 765G with 4,000mAh battery
For instance, the LG Q92 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G SoC, the same chip that powers the Velvet. The phone is then coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage; the latter can be expanded via the device’s microSD card slot.
Meanwhile, the phone is listed with a 4,000mAh battery capacity, with support for 15W fast wired charging.
6.67-inch LCD panel, IP68 rating, MIL-STD-810G compliant, rear quad cameras
The LG Q92 5G’s display, on the other hand, boasts a 6.67-inch IPS LCD panel, with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The device also comes with an IP68 rating and is MIL-STD-810G compliant.
Around the back, the handset employs a quadruple-camera setup. This is front-lined by a 48-megapixel wide camera and is accompanied by 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 5MP depth sensors. Inside the phone’s display cutout, which is placed at the top center of its front panel, is a massive 32MP selfie snapper.
For its software front, the LG Q92 boots LG’s UX 9, based on the latest Android 10. Other key features of the device include Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, and USB Type-C. There is also a fingerprint reader that is mounted on the side of the phone, which doubles as its power button.
Pricing and availability
The LG Q92 5G, which only retails in a single 6GB/128GB trim, retails for KRW 499,000. The phone is scheduled to go on sale in South Korea on August 26.
Apart from the LG Q92 5G, LG is also tipped to launch a wide range of Q-series models of smartphones, from Q3x, Q5x, down to Q6x, and the top-of-the-line Q9x, which is speculated to debut in 2021.
LG is yet to reveal the international availability of the Q92 smartphone.
